Weight Control

Being overweight is one of the more common problems that come to the attention of hypnotists. It has been found that hypnosis, combined with self-hypnosis, is probably the most effective modality for weight control.

Excessive food intake can result from the myriad of causes:

1. The substitute for repressed hostility or frustration of various kinds;
2. Occupational difficulties, such as being a square peg in a round hole;
3. Feelings of insecurity leading to an over dependence on food as a means of assuaging anxiety;
4. Some times, it is simply an extension of childhood habits during which food was used by parents as a reward.

Whatever the reasons, stuffing the stomach seems to provide a temporary feeling of well being -- followed shortly afterward by feelings of guilt!

In essence, being overweight is generally the result of an intake of calories more than the body's needs. The compulsion to overeat cannot be permanently overcome by fad diets or crash diets. As fast as one loses weight, one gains it back as soon as he eases up on the particular reducing program he was on. What usually must take place for permanent results is re-education -- a "reprogramming" of the individuals food habits.

What hypnosis provides that most other methods do not, is the means for an ongoing and continued reinforcement by the subject himself. This is where self- hypnosis comes in. The client is trained in a system of self-hypnosis by means of which one gives self periodic suggestions -- it takes only a few minutes a day -- which automatically renew and reinforce helpful weight-controlling suggestions that was given in the hypnotists office. In other words, the client becomes his own hypnotist!

The suggestions implanted in the subconscious depend upon the individual needs. Thus, if the person eats too much, then the mind is saturated with affirmations of being satisfied with less food. If one is inclined to between-meal snacks, the suggestions revolve around eating only at mealtimes. If the person problem is a tendency toward the wrong food, the subconscious is inundated with suggestions of eating only the right food, the food conducive to reducing. Stress is placed upon those incentives, which are most important to the client, whether it is health, beauty, social or business reasons. In addition, once person reaches desired goal, then ideal weight, is "locked" into it, and with proper and continuing self-reinforcement, one tends to maintain that weight.

Try it! You have nothing to lose but excess poundage.
